DIGIRAW was born out of one man's digital media obsession. Founder Chris Rayner started backing up his DVDs towards the end of the 90s to protect his disc investment and play his collection on his laptop when away on business.

By 2007 Apple had launched its 1st-generation set-top streaming device, namely the Apple TV. This little streamer empowered Chris to browse and play his digital content on his TVs over his home network using iTunes and laptops.

Over the years, alternative media server software hit the market along with different streaming devices. Chris tried them all, favouring Plex, Emby, and Infuse using the Apple TV and NVIDIA Shield TV hardware. Further development witnessed the release of iOS and Android apps for smartphones and tablets.

Armed with the knowledge Chris gained over the years, it was no surprise he was being asked to help others. As a result, his hobby started generating income, and by 2012 Chris departed the multi-million-pound company he founded within the security ID Card sector. He was now able to focus on his home-media passion full-time.

Chris started out converting disc collections for private and commercial clients in the UK and worldwide, including AV specifiers and installers. He also supports Superyachts and Private Jets with offline low-cost media entertainment systems.
