Mini DVD camcorders were popular for a simple reason. They felt convenient. Instead of recording to tape, families could record directly onto a small disc and play it back later.

Honest answer: not every unfinalised or damaged Mini DVD can be recovered, but the earlier you check the discs, the better your chances usually are.

Keep each disc in its sleeve or case
These smaller discs can scratch easily. Keep them protected and avoid stacking loose discs together.
Write down any labels

Do not clean aggressively

The better route is to get the disc checked and converted while there is still a chance of reading it.
Can every Mini DVD be converted?
No, and it is important to be honest about that.
If a disc is badly scratched, physically damaged, unfinalised, poorly recorded or corrupted, full recovery may not always be possible. Sometimes partial recovery may be the best result.
But doing nothing does not improve the odds. If the footage matters, it is better to check the discs sooner rather than leaving them for another five or ten years.
